What is a Simple Cremation?
A simple cremation, also known as a direct cremation takes place without a funeral service, viewing, or visitation before.
It’s an ideal option for the family who may prefer a simpler way to say goodbye, but who may also want to plan a Celebration of Life, scattering ceremony or memorial service themselves, after.

Does Branch & Pyre offer a payment plan?
We offer flexible payment options for pre-planning a cremation with us. Branch & Pyre is looking to add a payment plan option in the near future for our at-need cremation families as well.
Do I have to buy an urn or casket?
At Branch & Pyre, we don’t require you to purchase additional merchandise to accompany our service. We provide a basic cremation container included with our price, as well as a basic temporary urn to hold your loved one’s ashes, which is adequate for many families. However, if you plan keep your loved one at home, or inter their ashes in a cemetery you may want something more permanent. Cemeteries will have certain guidelines as to the type of urn required. Please contact our office for more details.

Is there any other costs that I should expect?
As required by the crematorium, if the deceased is over 300 lbs, but under 500 lbs, a surcharge of $295.00 will be applied. If the deceased has a pacemaker, it will need to be removed by a Licensed Embalmer prior to cremation $95.00.
Our transfer costs will change with each transfer outside the city limits of Winnipeg, at a rate of $1.95 per km (one way). For any further inquiries you can reach out to our office at any time.
Why are your prices lower than other cremation providers?
Branch & Pyre is an online cremation care provider, which means we don’t have the high overhead, maintenance and staffing costs commonly associated with operating a large, traditional funeral home. Families can arrange online and over the phone, and therefore we can provide much more affordable care. Also, without the added pressure of sales-focused arrangements, and merchandise showrooms, you can actually receive the service you want, at the price you’re promised.
