Daniel Nicholas Bachynsky
November 2, 1951 - December 28, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Bachynsky, announces his passing on December 28th, 2025, at the age of 74, at the Grace Hospital, in Winnipeg after a short battle with illness.
He was predeceased by his father, Walter, his mother Veronica, his younger sisters Dana and Dale (Kaye).
Daniel is survived by his sister Alaina, his former wife Bernalda, his children Daniel (Nicole), Natasha (Joe), and stepdaughter Natalie. grandchildren Makayla, Taylor, Danica, and Rosie, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born on November 2, 1951, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, to his parents Walter and Veronica Bachynsky, Daniel grew up traveling across Canada with his parents and his sisters for his dad’s work until they finally settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He and the family shared very fond memories of their time traveling across Canada, and especially of their time spent living in Newfoundland. Daniel was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. His passion for the outdoors later turned into fulfilling work as a fishing guide in Ontario and earned him the nickname of “Daniel Boone” Daniel also obtained his pilot license in his early twenties. Daniel was an employee of CN Railways where he worked as a brakeman for many years until his early retirement.
He spent a great deal of his adult life living in Sioux Lookout and then later moved to Kenora, Ontario where he could continue to enjoy fishing and being in the great outdoors.
It was in Sioux Lookout. Daniel met his longtime partner Bernalda, and they shared two children: Daniel and Natasha, as well as a daughter Natalie from Bernalda's previous marriage.
Daniel was loved by many, and he was the type of person that would give you the shirt off his back. He was kind, loyal, mischievous, and had a playful sense of humor with an infectious laugh to match. He will be deeply missed.
