Donald Kent Blackmon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Kent Blackmon, who left us peacefully on June 14, 2026 surrounded by family at Golden Links Lodge. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rosemary of fifty-two years, his parents Stanley and Katherine Blackmon, his twin brother Bruce (Sandy), father and mother in-laws Walter and Lilly Bullas and sister in-law Joan Phillips (Ed).
He is survived by his son Kent, daughter in-law Sandy, grandson Jacob (Heather), great granddaughter Blake, brother-in law John Bullas (Sally), nephews and nieces Melanie Conklin (Brent), David Blackmon (Michelle), Michael Blackmon, Neil Bryan (Kerri), Marie Goddard (Barry), David Bullas (Michelle), Brian Bullas (Natasha), James Bullas (Rebecca) and Amanda Burke (Adam).
Donald was born at 10:10 a.m. on May 30, 1940, at Grace Hospital. He grew up in Winnipeg alongside his twin brother, Bruce, with whom he shared an unbreakable bond. In 1971, he married the love of his life, Rosemary, and together they built a warm and loving home. Their family grew in 1974 with the arrival of their son, Kent, and Don took immense pride in being a devoted and supportive father, ensuring his son had every opportunity. Don and Rose later retired to Hillside Beach, fulfilling their dream of living at the lake and enjoying the peaceful life they had always imagined. In 1994, they joyfully became grandparents to Jacob. Jacob was the apple of Don’s eye, and he eagerly looked forward to every visit, always ready to spoil him. Don also had a deep affection for the family pets—Puddles the cat, and the dogs Hobbit, Nala, and Thorton—each of whom held a special place in his heart. In 2007, Kent married his wife, Sandy, who quickly became an important part of Don’s life. He welcomed her with open arms, and the bond they shared brought even more joy and closeness to the family.
Don was a true family man, known for his unwavering devotion to those he loved. He lived a life unmistakably his own, giving his time, his heart, and his steady presence to his family and to the pets who adored him. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures—coffee in the morning, walking the dogs, watching a Jets game, and never turning down a great hamburger or a piece of cake. Don had a lifelong passion for rock and roll and cherished every moment listening to music with the people closest to him.
Don’s life was a quiet testament to love, loyalty, and the beauty of simple moments. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his family. Though he has left this world, the love he gave remains.
