Edith “Edie” Lorie Lindberg
August 14, 1948 - July 4, 2025
Peacefully, surrounded by her family and on her own terms, Edie passed away at home on July 4, 2025, at the age of 76.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Glenn and her father, Christian Hackenbroch.
Edie is survived by her daughter Amber, son-in-law Kerry Koestner, and granddaughter Luna Mapes. She also leaves her mother Adele Hackenbroch, brother Wolfgang Hackenbroch (Lynn Bendinger), sister Ute Reader-Katynski (John), brother-in-law Brent Lindberg (Valerie), sister-in-law Sharron Friesen, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Edie was born and raised in Fallersleben, Germany, and immigrated to Canada at age 12 in 1961, settling in Winnipeg. There she met and fell in love with Glenn, marrying in 1969.
Edie had a 35-plus-year career at RBC, retiring in 2008. It was through her work that she met her treasured lifelong friends, the “poker girls”: Lynda Hay, Jan Sherman, Vi Desrochers, Carol McMillan, Judy Robertson, and Marilyn L’Hereux. She also loved her wonderful lifelong friend Brenda McCracken.
The family would like to thank Dr. Maegan Springman, Colleen Barbour (RN), and Lindsay Bacala (RSW) for the unparalleled compassion and care they provided to Edie and family during her final hours.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on August 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street. Interment will follow at St. Vital Cemetery.
