Robert J. Gault
January 7, 1955 - October 4, 2025
At the age of 70, Rob (Dad) said goodbye to us at the Gimli Community Health Centre after a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the people he loved most and who loved him even more.
He leaves behind his mother, Mary; his life partner, Peanut (Arlene) Holmes; his daughter, Michelle; son-in-law, Myke; grandchildren, Chase (Ariella) and Kamryn; and his brother by choice, Ryan.
He will also be dearly missed by his stepdaughters Lisa (Dan), Robyn (Ryan), and Jodi (Dean); step-grandchildren Jasmine, Brayden (Erika), Belle, Brooke (Korbin), Vedder, Hope, Ava, and Emily; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
Rob was predeceased by his father, Robert J. Gault; sister, Linda (Gault) Babiak; stepfather, John Stephenson; mother-in-law, Yvonne Bremner; brothers-in-law, Jim Shore and Larry Bremner; and dear friends Evelyn Renaud, Darryl Renaud and his parents, Sylvia and Harvey. He was also predeceased by many aunts and uncles.
Rob spent his early career as a fitter welder with Dominion Bridge. Shortly after starting there, he married Donna, with whom he shared 44 years. He later worked with Pauwels, but due to health challenges, he chose to retire early.
In retirement, Rob found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening, building, woodworking, and “putzing” around the yard. Family time was everything to him. He proudly served as President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2, where he made lifelong memories, shared laughs, and found camaraderie.
One of Rob’s greatest joys was being with his grandchildren. He adored them all and loved bringing a smile to their faces whether baking treats, cheering them on at their activities, or simply sharing stories and laughter. He loved them unconditionally and took immense pride in each of them. They were truly the light of his life.
After he and Peanut moved to Winnipeg Beach, Rob enjoyed spending time outdoors, hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, playing in annual corn hole tournaments, listening to live music at the bandstand, and hosting backyard corn roasts complete with guitars, singalongs, and laughter by the fire.
Rob’s family and close friends were the center of his world. He had a heart of gold and brought warmth, generosity, and kindness wherever he went. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Rittberg at CancerCare Manitoba for her dedication and kindness, and to the entire CancerCare and Palliative Care staff at the Gimli Community Health Centre for their generosity and the compassionate care they extended to our whole family.
Dad, I am so lucky to have had you as my dad. You are already missed deeply by everyone who knew and loved you. Our lives will never be the same without you.
“Who loves ya, baby?” … We all do!
