Sylvain “Syl” Bertrand Joseph Fillion

March 4, 1964 - August 4, 2025

Sylvain “Syl” Fillion passed away suddenly on August 4, 2025, at the age of 61 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1 to 3:30pm at 158 Prospect Street, Winnipeg Beach, MB.

He has been cremated, and a private family interment will follow at a later date.

Syl was predeceased by his beloved husband of 28 years, Joey Ritchie; his parents, Paul Fillion and Celine (Chouinard); and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his son Justin Fillion (mother Marnie), his sister, Carmelle (Lionel) Labelle; brothers, Norman (Dominique) and Onil (Loretta); and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Born and raised in St. Jean Baptiste, MB, Syl was known for his happy-go-lucky nature and ever-present smile. In high school, he studied cosmetology and worked as a hairdresser for a few years.  He had a passion for gardening, earning several ribbons through the 4-H Club.

Syl built a long and dedicated career as a healthcare aide and orderly, working nights for 28 years at Foyer Valade, evenings for several years at the St. Boniface Hospital, and three years with WRHA Home Care in Winnipeg and the surrounding area.

He and Joey shared many wonderful years together, including time spent at their condo in Mexico.  Syl now joins Joey once again, and soon, they will be laid to rest together at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery off Portage Ave.
