Ywain Marilyn Cuddy
October 28, 1954 - August 20, 2025
Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Ywain Marilyn Cuddy (nee Taylor), age 70, passed away at ActionMarguerite St. Joseph Personal Care Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.
Ywain was predeceased by her parents Frank and Kay Taylor, as well as her husband, Danny Cuddy. Ywain is survived by her sons Wayne and Walter who she gracefully cherished every day; as well as her one and only dear beloved sister Violet, along with cousins and many friends in Canada and abroad.
Ywain grew up in Winnipeg, where she graduated from St. John's High School. Soon after, she moved to Lincoln, England.
Having a love for history, she thrived and enjoyed visiting many historical sites within the countryside. She married Arden Lilley on June 4, 1978 and soon to follow were the births of their two sons: Wayne and Walter.
The family moved to Winnipeg in 1984, where the boys could enjoy time with their grandparents and now embrace a Canadian live style.
Ywain loved being a mother and was exceptional. She was always finding new ways to bring play fun into the lives of her boys: Beavers group, picnics, museums trips which included a trip back to England and to France.
Ywain was an amazing woman! An avid reader (with a memory of every book!), Beaver Cub Leader, incredible knitter, keen to study genealogy for hours at a time and above all, the most interesting letter writer ever! She loved cooking and had a remarkable memory for trivia. If you were playing a trivia game, you definitely wanted to be on her team!
Over the years, she worked in several fields including retail, accounting and statistical gathering. Always doing her best and wishing to create a harmonious working culture with many a social activity for her fellow co-workers. There was always a reason to enjoy fellowship with her colleagues. She would go out of her way to make it happen even carrying party supplies while traveling on city bus routes.
In 2002, she married Danny, the love of her life! They enjoyed several wonderful years together. Ywain was excited when they purchased land in Beulah, MB, built a home and started farming on their new land once Danny retired from Winnipeg Transit.
Ywain loved the property, the Lake and the community. She had found her happy place.
Sadly, Danny passed away in 2007, however, Ywain continued to live on the farmland for several years to follow. Many thanks to her neighbours and friends who lent her a helping hand. Special thanks to Maggie and Graham for their time and effort in support of Ywain.
In June 2023, Ywain moved to the Sherwood Home, and then in September 2024 she was then moved to the West-Man Home, of which are both located in Virden, Manitoba. In early April of 2025, Ywain was moved to Winnipeg and resided at ActionMarguerite St. Joseph Personal Care Home, enjoying frequent visits from family, with her greatest joy in seeing her sons.
Ywain has always been very accepting of all people and always had a kind word to say about them. She was incredibly loving. Perhaps, we could learn from her. For this reason, she had many long-lasting friends including her best friend Joyce.
Joyce and Ywain met when they were 16 years of age on a Girl Guide exchange between Winnipeg and St. Claude, Minnesota. As their friendship continued to flourish, these two girls bonded with each other well into their adult lives.
A special recognition to her long time Winnipeg neighbour and friend Frances of which their friendship continued over the many years to follow.
Bravely, Ywain walked through life having been dealt with several medical challenges. She was strong and showed the world that she could do anything. Always cheerful and grateful. Again, we could learn from her.
As per Ywain's wishes, a family gathering will take place at a later date in Birtle, Manitoba at which time, Ywain will be laid to rest next to her late husband Danny.
A special thank you to the staff at the Sherwood Home and the West-Man Home, as well as ActionMarguerite St. Joseph, for their compassion and kindness shown towards Ywain.
