Walter Linn Cawston
April 18, 1940 - July 12, 2026
Walter Linn Cawston, 86, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away on the morning of July 12th, 2026 at St. Boniface Hospital.
Walter, primarily known as Linn, was born on April 18th, 1940 to Murray and Ada Cawston in Barwick Ontario. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Nicole Cawston, on July 25, 1964 and together they raised two daughters.
Linn had a full career, proudly serving his country as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces that took him around Canada, and the World. Linn was a notable marksman in his military career and enjoyed training Airforce Cadettes. Linn had a true passion for music of all genres, enjoyed reading, taking pictures and being an amateur photographer.
Linn was predeceased by his father Murray Cawston, and mother and stepfather Ada and Jim Bovair as well as his siblings Louise McComb, Connie Hill, Joan Cawston, George Cawston, and Mihlan Cawston.
Linn is survived his wife Nicole, his daughters: Michelle (Glenn), and their children Adam and Kirsty; and Cheryl (Troy) and their children, Madisson, Katelynne, and Johnathan. Walter is also survived by several great grandchildren.
Linn adored spending time with his family and friends attending events, hanging out on Cawston Island, and cheering on his daughters and grandchildren and other family members attending many extra-curricular activities.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering of remembrance will be held at a later date. The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Beacon Hill Lodge and the St. Boniface Hospital for Linn’s care.
