Alexander (Alex) James McDonnell
June 14, 1991 - April 9, 2026
Alex McDonnell passed away on April 9, 2026, just months before what would have been his 35th birthday. He left this world surrounded by those who loved him most—his mom, dad, twin sister, brother-in-law, and god parents.
Alex is lovingly remembered by his parents, Kathy (Boyanisky) and Jim; his beloved dog, Nala; and his sister and brother-in-law, Hayley and Sam. His absence leaves a profound void in their lives and in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on June 14, 1991, Alex had a natural ability to connect with people. With his quick wit and sense of humour he built a community wherever he went. He had a way of making others feel seen, welcomed, and valued.
A gifted athlete, Alex had a powerful arm and a deep love for sports. He excelled in hockey and baseball, and in recent years found joy and peace on the golf course. An avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays, he had an unwavering loyalty for his teams and passionately cheered them on any chance he could.
Alex wore his heart on his sleeve. He was generous with his laughter and unwavering in his love for his family and friends, something they will never question.
In the kitchen, Alex found another way to express himself. He had a passion for good food, always eager to try new restaurants and experiment with new recipes, often sharing those experiences with the people he loved.
Alex was also proud of his sobriety, a journey he approached with strength and determination, supported every step of the way by his family. It was a testament to his resilience and courage.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Donations may be made to a pet rescue in his name.
A private cremation, and Celebration of Alex’s Life was held.
