Ronald Stephen Welgush

July 22, 1947 - March 8, 2026

Ron passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 78, after a long and courageous four-year battle with cancer.

Ron was, above all else, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He shared a deep and lasting love with his wife, Heather, and built a life centered around caring for his family. He was a proud father to his daughters, Jennifer and Susan, and a loving grandfather to Justin and his wife Kristina, who all meant the world to him.

Ron will be dearly missed by his brother Rick and sister-in-law Arlene, along with his nieces, Lauren (Dylan) and Lindsay, and great-niece, Olive. He is fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Gary and his wife Heather, as well as his nephews Ryan and Cory.

Ron had a quiet strength about him, the kind of person who always showed up, always put others first, and made sure the people around him were taken care of. He didn’t need recognition to do the right thing; it was simply who he was. Whether it was through his steady support, his kindness, or just being someone you could count on no matter what, Ron made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Even through his illness, Ron remained strong and selfless, thinking of others and facing each day with resilience. His love for his family never wavered, right up until his final days.

He will be remembered for his generosity, his loyalty, and the way he made people feel safe and cared for. Ron’s presence in our lives was a gift, and he will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Ron’s family would like to thank Cancer Care Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital, his family and his friends for all of their support. 

A private cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life was held with immediate family.
